Beach is a geological landform formed due to the deposition of sediments along the sea shores or sometimes along the lake shores, various configuration and contours are formed as a result of continuous movement of water along the coastal region. Generally there are 3 types of beaches. The first type of beach occurs as a strip made of sediments that borders a cliffy or rocky cost, this type of beach is generally found in areas where there are frequent mountain ranges near the coastal region also. The second type of beach is nothing but an outer margin of a plain of marine or fluvial accumulation and the third type of beach found on earth surface is a narrow sediment beach, this type of beach has barriers stretching for hundreds of kilometers parallel to the general direction of the coast. These beaches are mainly found on the part of the sea water that is passing through narrow mountain ranges. These barriers split lagoons from the open sea and normally are dissected by some tidal inlets. Certain sediment forelands, such as spits, points, and tombolos (which connect an island with a mainland), also occasionally are called beaches. The upper limit of the active beach is the swash line reached by uppermost sea level during big storms. The lower beach margin is beneath the water surface and can be determined only if there is a definite border present between the sediment layer and the naked surface of the rocky bench. If the sediment cover extends into bottom water, the lowest beach fringe may be defined as the line where the strongest waves no longer nature and move the sand. It occurs around at a deepness equivalent to one-third the wavelength or 10 times the wave altitude.
Active beach profiles varies very gently, its various forms and dimensions fully depend on various factors such as wave parameters, tide height, sediment distribution and composition. The following however, constitute some of the profile elements that commonly occur. At the upper most part of the sediment deposition, above high sea level, a beach terrace is located, and there may be a series of beach ridges or various beams created by the waves of a previous major storm, this kind of terrace is inclined seaward. The nest element of this is a steeper one, frontal beach slope or face, and beneath it a low-tide terrace may be developed. The frontal slope depends upon the height of the tide, if the tides are high enough, the frontal slope may be more than 1 km in width in regions with abundant sand and a shallow bottom. In many areas the tides especially the low-tide terrace terminates with another inclines shore face, if the sea shore zone is rather deep, one or more several parallel, submarine, long-shore bars with intervening troughs may exists along sandy shores, presently these bars mainly constitute the last profile elements. Some minor relief forms are usually present on the surface of sand beaches; these include oscillation ripples, swash or rill furrows, and the well known beach cusps at the beach margin.
